Active deterrence
Don't just record a break-in. Prevent one.
This map shows where break-ins are being reported. Active deterrence is how you stay off it.
We arm your cameras like a motion detector. Perimeter beams, cameras, outdoor motion detectors and strobe sirens work together. When someone steps onto the property, the siren and lights go off and drive them away before they reach a door or a vehicle.
Our own shop vans
Our vans kept getting broken into. We installed an Ajax 3-beam perimeter detector wired to a strobe siren. Now we have video of a vehicle pulling into the lot after hours, the strobe siren firing, and the vehicle turning around and leaving. Nobody reached a van.

How to protect your home
Keep entrances well lit
A well-lit doorway, garage and side yard takes away the cover most break-ins rely on. Simple porch lights and timers make the house look lived in.
Alarm systems in Kitchener →Secure every entry point
Rear doors, patio sliders and garage man-doors are the most common ways in. Door and glass-break sensors cover them quietly.
Alarm systems in Waterloo →Choose monitored protection
A monitored alarm gets a professional response even when your phone is off. It pairs well with cameras you can check from anywhere.
24/7 alarm monitoring →Alarm systems in Cambridge →Add active deterrence
Cameras and sirens that react before someone reaches the door. Lights, sirens and voice warnings trigger when someone approaches, instead of only recording what happened.

Where does this data come from?
From the Waterloo Regional Police Service public automated incident list. We keep only break-and-enter calls and group them by WRPS patrol zone. We never show addresses, streets or individual incidents.
How often is the map updated?
We refresh the map several times a day from the WRPS public Crime Map. WRPS publishes call counts in 10-day blocks that run about a week behind, so the map shows the latest 30 and 60 days WRPS has released, with the end date labelled.
What does the activity level mean?
Each call counts most when it is new and fades to zero over 60 days. Zones are then compared with each other across the region. Counts under three are shown as "Fewer than 3".
Does a higher level mean my home is at risk?
No. The map reflects calls for service, not confirmed crimes, and a patrol zone covers many streets. It is a general picture of activity to help you make informed choices.
